Samsung Just Showed Off AI Smart Glasses That Could Finally Kill the Smartphone

Samsung just pulled back the curtain on something that could change how we use technology forever: AI-powered smart glasses with a built-in camera.

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung executive Jay Kim revealed that the company's upcoming smart glasses will have a camera sitting right at your eye level. The glasses connect to your phone, which does all the heavy thinking. So imagine walking down the street, and your glasses can see what you see, understand it, and help you in real time.

Right now, Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses own 82% of the market. But Samsung is coming in with decades of hardware expertise and a partnership with Google and Qualcomm that has been cooking since 2023.

Kim dropped a pretty bold hint about the future: "Everybody talks about what the next AI device is," he said, suggesting that glasses, not phones, are where everything is heading. The logic makes sense. Everyone already wears glasses. Nobody wants to strap a heavy headset to their face.

Samsung's first mixed-reality product, the Galaxy XR headset, launched last year. But Kim basically admitted headsets will never be a mass-market thing. Glasses are the real play.

No price or exact release date yet, but Samsung confirmed they are coming in 2026. As reported by CNBC.
